Wisconsin Home Security Alarm Monitoring Q&A

How do I set the code on my home security system? I purchased a home that has a security system installed. It has motion sensors in some rooms, and door sensors on every exterior door. I know it is functional as I see it respond to the various sensors, but do not know the code to arm it. The previous owner's disconnected the service to the company that calls the police and forgot the code. I just want to use it as a passive system that sounds the alarm when breached, but cannot arm it without the code. Any guesses on how i can set it? The manufacturer of the alarm is no longer in business, but is Apollo Security.
What type of alarm system is it? Not the sticker on the window, take a look at the keypad and the main panel circuit board. Once you have done that I can tell you how to change the code. Typically you will need the master code to change it so you ... [full answer]
Does the "X10 Wireless Home Security Alarm System" really work? This is a system that's much cheaper in price than some do it yourself sytems. Looks like a lot of them have sold on Ebay. Does anyone know if the system actually works? How well with dogs running around the house?
I don't really know anything about X10 wireless home security but I got another one that works great check it out. www.skyelist.com
OnStar home security system - can they listen in without you knowing? On a GE system home security system panel, which uses OnStar, can the security system or anyone else "listen in" to your home without you knowing it? I know , I sound paranoid, but I have no experience with OnStar or anything like it and the salesman said that when the alarm is tripped the operator will be able to hear basically anyone in my house. I'm just wondering if it's possible for anyone at the security company (which I'm afraid isn't the most reputable) or some type of "hacker" could listen in to my home without the alarm indicating this or without there being any other indication.
we have something like that but its life-alert, we have a box with a loudspeaker on it, its also attached to our fire alarm, as soon as the system is tripped on our end the loudspeaker turns "live" and the office can hear what is going on in our house ... [full answer]
