New Jersey Home Security Alarm Monitoring Q&A

What's a good, inexpensive home network security camera? We're looking to set up an inexpensive network security camera in our home. I already have ethernet wiring in most of the house, and a Windows 2003 server that could run any software required to record video. I'm looking for a fairly inexpensive IP-based security camera. Any recommendations ?

Do anybody have experience with the required wireless equipment update by home security monitoring company? I subscribed to monitoring service with a Home Security Monitoring company. I have wireless security equipment installed. Recently they told me that the government require them to replace the analog radio tower system with digital radio tower system. This results in I need to replace my wireless security equipment as well, otherwise it won't be able to connect to the new radio tower. They charged me $100 for that. Since I'm still in a contract with them, I think I shouldn't pay that $100. So, do anybody have experience in this matter? Is the new regulation for real? Do the customers really have to pay for that required upgrade by the government regulation even when they're still in a contract? Thanks! I appreciate any inputs.

How many door/window contacts does my home security system need? Most of the plans say that they come with 2 or 3 contacts. I know that each door will need one, but I thought that all of the windows were supposed to have them too.
Yes the windows should have one too. Also, dun forget the garage or store room entrances too. Ideally you should get a qualified security personnel to do an assessment on the security systems to put in place in your house, this way you won't missed out anything. Not sure where ... [full answer]
