Nebraska Home Security Alarm Monitoring Q&A

How do you setup phone numbers with the x10 home security system? after I program a phone number in the security system I put the alarm in away mode and walk past the motion sencer the alarm goes off but it does not call my phone what could be wrong? I go on my other phone and it says that the call cannot be completed as dialed.
your security system should be hooked up onto a traditional copper phone line, not a vonage/fios/cable/dsl line. Also it should be tapped into the phone line where it comes into the house before any of your other phones. The security system should come with a line seize module ... [full answer]
How can I replace batteries in my ADT home security system? How can I replace batteries in my ADT home security system? please be specific and detail. I am not any mechanical geek. Thank you very much for your help (or your attempts to help).

Brinks home security system disabled following a power outage.? My Brinks home-security system was working fine until a long power-outage drained the system battery. When the power came back, the battery eventually recharged, but the keypad display remains blank. The buttons beep when you press them, but nothing works. I called Brinks and they said this behavior is by design. They eluded to the fact the system could be reactivated over the phone line ... but they ended the call because I'm not paying monthly to have the system monitored. Does anyone know how to re-activate this system?
It sounds like the alarm panel lost its programming. In theory, this shouldn't happen because the program should be stored in non-volatile memory. Unfortunately, Brinks is probably the only one that has the access codes and/or programming device necessary to restore the program. Most Brink's panels are designed especially for them ...
