Montana Home Security Alarm Monitoring Q&A

Anyone ever installed a home security alarm inside a car? Im planning on doing it. Installing a home security system that has door sensors and a motion senor inside my ultilty van that is full of equipment. The system can run on either 120AC or 12VDC (stated as backup battery since installing them in vehicles is never really talked about) anyone have any tips or suggestions? will it run my battery dead? does it pull much power? will it work?
This will work. It used to be done all the time in the large RV's that were used as mobile showrooms for mechanic's tools (Snap-On, etc.). Depending on the alarm control panel you are using, you may get various types of "trouble" signals if the panel doesn't see the AC ... [full answer]
What's the point in home security if someone can just switch off your main power? call me naive, but i always thought that a home security system would still be active (by some backup power or something) even if your main power supply was turned off. To my suprise my friends told me that this isnt the case, and that indeed someone could just rock up to your house, turn off your main power which will then disable your security system and then rob it. This shocked me as then what is the point of having a security system if someone can so easily bypass it???
YOU CANNOT TURN A SECURITY SYSTEM OFF BY SHUTTING THE MAIN POWER TO THE HOUSE , IT HAS A BACKUP BATTERY THAT WILL SECURE THE HOUSE UP TO 7 DAYS !!!!! UNLESS IF YOU INSTALLED YOUR OWN SYSTEM THAN YEAH GOOD LUCK CHUCK!
Is it true that Brinks Home security is totally ineffective as an alarm system? I heard that Brinks' monitoring is slow when an alarm goes off and that the commercials are fake. I'm not sure which category questions about security systems go.
There are probably a half dozen or so companies that give you the security system for FREE and all you do is pay for the monitoring each month which can range from $29 - $50 per month or higher if you add specialty products.... Look in your local phone book yellow ... [full answer]
