Louisiana Home Security Alarm Monitoring Q&A

What would be the best city in america to sell home security? I work for a home alarm company and we get to pick which city go to sell in. I have sold in tampa bay; miami; spokane, WA; reno,NV. All were decent but tampa had bad credit (must have credit score above 600). Reno was the best because i don't think there were alot of people that went door-to-door to sell alarms. in florida it was more difficult because the market was more saturated
Detroit and especially the surrounding communities. If GM shuts down, those who are still working will need them.
Brinks home security system disabled following a power outage.? My Brinks home-security system was working fine until a long power-outage drained the system battery. When the power came back, the battery eventually recharged, but the keypad display remains blank. The buttons beep when you press them, but nothing works. I called Brinks and they said this behavior is by design. They eluded to the fact the system could be reactivated over the phone line ... but they ended the call because I'm not paying monthly to have the system monitored. Does anyone know how to re-activate this system?
It sounds like the alarm panel lost its programming. In theory, this shouldn't happen because the program should be stored in non-volatile memory. Unfortunately, Brinks is probably the only one that has the access codes and/or programming device necessary to restore the program. Most Brink's panels are designed especially for them ... Is there a home security system that uses broadband rather than VOIP? We currently have Brink's security system and pay Comcast for a VOIP line for the security system to use. We don't use that line for anything else and I feel that it is a waste of money. Is there any types of home security system that works through broadband or wi-fi? Thanks.
Home security systems usually work by phone, but the phone line isn't secure (it's too easy to cut), so they use VoIP. You're right, though - they should come into the 21st century and use plain TCP on the internet line. (Maybe you can convince them to hire ... [full answer]
