Indiana Home Security Alarm Monitoring Q&A

Is there a way to be alerted when a home security system has been activated and disarmed? My employer uses SecureNet as the security system for the small business. All employees have keys and know the passcode. I intend to enter briefly after close of business day, disarm the system, shred a few peices of a co-workers work, and then re-arm the system and leave. Is there any way my employer could know, in real-time, when the system was armed and disarmed? Is there anyway they could know at all?
You need to know if your employer has a main panel. SecureNet is an AES radio used as a back up unit for a main panel. But there are people who only use back up units such as AES radios but it is rare. If all they have is the ... [full answer]
Is Platinum Protection, (home security), a legitimate company? If so, why do they use “hard” sale tactics? When I got home from work tonight, my family was being given a high pressure sales pitch from a Platinum Protection guy. The salesman was in his early 20's and said he was from Idaho and was just visiting our area to sale this wonderful home security system. If we display THEIR sign in our front yard for 3 years then EVERYTHING would be free, well except for the fee of ONLY $1.42 per day. He claimed that "Our Company doesn't even want to charge for the service, but the State makes us." I listened for a few minutes, and was disgusted with his sales spiel. I told him that we weren’t interested and that he needed to leave my home. He ignored me and kept talking to my wife. I again told him to leave my home. He then brought out his purchase order and said if my wife would just sign we could have the system installed tonight. I told the jerk, you can leave some information with us, but we will need to consider this for a few days. He was appalled, --cont. and insisted we had to sign tonight. I told him No. Now get out of my house. He again turned to my wife, asking her to sign. At this point, I said to him, Do I call the Police or pull out my shotgun to get you to leave? He left. I'm still fuming over his refusal to leave my home when told to. So, does anyone know if Platinum Protection is a legitimate company? After my experience, I won't deal with them. That high pressure makes me think they are not legimate. Anyone know about this company or dealt with them? 10 Points to the one who can give me information on this particular company!!
Definitely do NOT go with this company. Their sales people travel the country using high-pressure sales. Usually, something like ‘they’ll waive the cost of the $700 system if they can ‘advertise’ with a sign in the yard’. They’ll probably also mention the monitoring is Monitronics and ... [full answer]
What is the point of outdoor home security cameras? I desperately need security cameras because I don't feel save at my neighborhood but there is this bunch of kids of questionable characters hanging next door and how do I know that they won't use some stick or rocks to knock down my outdoor security camera? What about wireless camera? How do I replace batteries? Should I use landwire instead?
You need to get one of these: http://www.closeoutcctv.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=32 They are vandall proof. The cases are hard and can withstand a hammer. Wireless cameras are cool, but aren't worth the money. These guys have a pretty good price too. Also, I called, cause I found one camera with a better price, ... [full answer]
