Hawaii Home Security Alarm Monitoring Q&A

What home security measures have you planned for the economic collapse? If conditions worsen to the point of breakdown in police services, just as during Katrina, we can expect general lawlessness to break out, posing enormous risk to anyone who has stored food, water, medicines, etc. The standard advice has been "Get a gun!" but why not try to thwart home invasions in the first place? Some serious passive defense can be had for less than the cost of a gun and ammo (but get the gun anyway!). So any ideas? Shake and bake.LOL
Food stockpile, electric generator, bug water tank. Plaety of ammo. Ralph, my German Shepard. & the food keeps getting rotated. Buy bulk on sale anyway so. Wish list - roll of barbed wire, booby-trap pits...
is it possible for a wireless home security system to cause interference with other remote controls? recently had a security system put on my home which uses wireless sensors. in less than a week, my remote controls for my digital cable box and tv are not working as they should. I have to be about a foot or so away from the cable box for it to work and when it does it only works for a few seconds. Replaced cable box remote with a new one and still the same thing. any help would be greatly appreciated on what to do or who to call.
no cable and TVs user Infra-red remotes, that require Line-of-Site. Security systems use a wireless RF technology, so its completely unrelated. Possibly your security system could mess with your cordless phones, or wireless internet/networking, but your TV/cable can't be related. what you are describing sounds like what can happen ... What is the point of outdoor home security cameras? I desperately need security cameras because I don't feel save at my neighborhood but there is this bunch of kids of questionable characters hanging next door and how do I know that they won't use some stick or rocks to knock down my outdoor security camera? What about wireless camera? How do I replace batteries? Should I use landwire instead?
You need to get one of these: http://www.closeoutcctv.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=32 They are vandall proof. The cases are hard and can withstand a hammer. Wireless cameras are cool, but aren't worth the money. These guys have a pretty good price too. Also, I called, cause I found one camera with a better price, ... [full answer]
