District of Columbia Home Security Alarm Monitoring Q&A

How can I stop my inactive home security system from randomly beeping? We moved in a few months ago, and because we don't have a landline, the pre-existing home security system is inactive. That hasn't been a problem until this week, when I tripped the smoke alarm; ever since then, once a day, usually at a painfully early hour, it beeps until I type in the security code. Then it happens all over again the next morning. The control panel is in our closet and I suspect the solution to my problem lies there, but I'm not sure what wires to disconnect. Any ideas?

How do you bypass a Vista home security panel? I was working on my office window, and accidentally cut a window wire and now my Vista home security panel says "Fault 15 Office window" and won't allow me to turn on my alarm, I'm frighten by burglers, can anyone please help me? is there a way to bypass it?
Sorry, but I don't think this is that right category to post this in. The site must have thought you were talking about the WIndows Vista operating system and not the vista home security. My guess is to post this in consumer electronics or better yet ask the company that you bought ... [full answer]
Do you know anything about home security systems? We are thinking about getting one for our house. I called ADT and they charge $630 for the installation alone! Protection One, on the other hand, only charges about $150. What's the difference? Is the security system worth the money? Is it a hassle? Etc?
You can install one yourself for less money. My security system cost about $20, a series of little battey-powered alarms on all the windows and doors. For $300 you can get a pretty darn nice system that will call the service for a monthly fee. If you can ... [full answer]
